Improving Care and Promoting Health

This course is included in our Level 2 | Standards of Care Intensive
This Level 2 course fulfills the annual ADA Standards of Care component required for CDCES certification renewal. They also count toward your CDCES and BC-ADM certification CE requirements.
This course offers critical content that will help with certification exam success. We will delve into Social Determinants of health, assessment strategies, & behavior change approaches.
Psychosocial issues that can discourage individuals from adopting healthier behaviors will be explored. Strategies to identify & overcome these barriers are provided. Life studies are used to apply theory to real-life situations. This is a great course for anyone in the field of diabetes education or for those looking for a new perspective on assessment & coping strategies.

- State strategies to assess & address social determinants of health.
- Discuss healthcare delivery systems using a person-centered approach.
- Provide strategies for healthcare professionals to identify & overcome barriers to self-care.
- List screening tools that can help detect depression, trauma, & cognitive decline.
- Describe psycho-social & emotional barriers to diabetes self-management.
Course Objectives:
- Describe the application of the American Diabetes Association Standards of Care for people living with prediabetes and diabetes across the lifespan and in different care settings.
- Discuss the steps involved in assessing and promoting well-being in individuals and populations while exploring psychosocial issues and considering social determinants of health.
