This session reviews causes & strategies to prevent hypoglycemia are discussed. Includes a review of blood glucose monitoring considerations & teaching topics, with a focus on sick day management. Includes discussion of inpatient glucose management guidelines & goals.
Topics:
- Discuss risk & prevention of hypoglycemia.
- Strategies to get the most out of blood glucose monitoring & technology.
- Review sick day management, from hospital to home.
- Describe behavior change road blocks & work arounds.
Course Objectives:
- Describe the application of the American Diabetes Association Standards of Care for people living with prediabetes and diabetes across different care settings, including medical nutrition therapy and other lifestyle interventions.
- Incorporate a person-centered, shared decision-making approach while providing diabetes self-management education, problem-solving support, and strategies to reduce short- and long-term complications.
